About Us

Bridge House, Dawlish, South Devon is situated just over a mile from the sea front and a short walk from the shops of this small and pleasant resort. The distinctive white house which dates back to 1793, enjoys a quiet and peaceful setting. It has the added attraction of a trout stream running through its grounds into Dawlish Water, with its famous black swans. The panelled main lounge, which has a bar, opens directly onto the garden. The centre has a 15 space car park within the grounds.

There is a quiet lounge which enjoys views of the gardens and stream. Meals are served in the recently refurbished 'carriages' restaurant on the ground floor. All rooms have ensuite and have tea & coffee making facilities, hairdryer, WIFI and emergency call buttons. Reflexology and other treatments are available in our dedicated therapy room – booking is advised.

Bridge House has a fascinating history. It is said that Dickens wrote part of Nicholas Nickleby while staying here and Edward VII visited with his mistress Lily Langtry. In fact her ghost is reputed to have been seen on the upper floors (by men only!).
